About Kirk Miller
Without missing a day for the last five years, Kirk heads out the door no later than 4:00a.m. He gathers his camera equipment and embarks on a journey, to capture photos of the sun as it rises above Lake Pend Oreille. This documentation of the rising sun has become something that over 4,000 followers, look forward to each day. This is not art alone, but an extensive practice of research. This is a journey we can all share with Kirk.
The color in each piece of Kirks work is astounding. On any given morning, he can be found at City Beach, Ponder Point, Black Rock or Clark Fork, just to name a few locations. He selects the spot based on where the most interesting cloud formations will be. Cloud formations add drama to his work and cause the natural color of the sunrise to appear more intense. The process is tricky and takes a tremendous amount of planning to be in the right place at the right time. Within his collection of work, you will find the light dancing on the water, in the sky and on the horizon.
We celebrate Kirk for his dedication to this study. His photographs touch our souls and remind us every day of what a blessing it is to live in this beautiful place.
